Job Title: Automobile Technician

Summary: Performs system testing, services, repairs, tunes-up and overhauls automobiles and light trucks/SUVs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Technician must attach all needed parts to estimates no exceptions
- Be able to pass a random drug screening at any given time.
- Ensure all vehicles are road tested repairs are made.
- Ensure ‘mileage in’ and ‘mileage out’ are both logged on all vehicles serviced.
- Ensure Chassis ID, Engine ID and Production Date are logged in appropriate place on every order
- Ensure all vehicles have appropriate registration tags and fuel before road testing.
- Always obey the law and travel assigned road test route when road testing vehicles.
- Ensure customer vehicles are kept clean and secure throughout the repair process.
- Ensure keys are kept safe and returned to the keyboard when you have completed repairs.
- Maintain a clean work environment and facility.
- Be sure to use time clock in TekMetric for all activities (arrivals/departures/lunches & breaks)
- Ensure customer vehicles are parked in assigned locations and are always locked.
- Ensure keys are always tagged when received and returned to key box when not in the service bay.
- Be available for training both internally and externally as requested by management.
- Observe and demonstrate (by example) all safety regulations.
- Attending all safety training when requested by management.
- Report unsafe practices, facilities and/or equipment to your manager/supervisor.
- Participate in hazmat and worker’s compensation training when requested.
- Report all items needing repair or replacement (facility, equipment, tools).
- Attend all meetings when requested by management.
- Report any illegal activities, by anyone while on, or in using company property.
- Maintain, clean, and properly operate all company tools and equipment.
- Always keep your bays and work benches neat and orderly. Ensure they are cleaned up following all repairs.
- Have suitable and current tools to repair and maintain customer’s vehicles.
- Perform repairs & maintenance with high efficiency while maintaining a maximum 1% comeback rate.
- Maintain a 100% Productivity level with a maximum 1% comeback rate.
- Provide Service Advisor with detailed explanations of work performed, testing steps taken and provide any support documentation where applicable.
- When recommending repairs or maintenance, provide a reason for the recommendation for the Service Advisor to share with our client.
- Follow assigned times for repairs as directed by the service advisor.
- Keep service advisor informed of any unusual situations (rusted components for example)
- Ensure the Parts Manager/Dispatcher is given adequate advance notice of the requirement of parts.
- Ensure all parts and supplies used to perform your duties are noted on the appropriate repair order prior to submitting it to the Parts Manager/Dispatcher upon completion.
- Verify all parts for jobs assigned to you or at least to starting repairs.
- Assist Parts Manager/Dispatcher in the identification and ordering of parts (when requested).
- When waiting for assignments, perform maintenance of facility or equipment.
- When a situation occurs that prevents you from completing a task, in the interim ask for another repair order or task.
- Perform detailed digital inspection report on vehicle assigned to you (unless inspected in the prior 2 weeks).
- Ensure customers authorization prior to executing any repairs on any vehicle.
- Be sure to not go over the authorized time when testing for faults. If more time is needed, inform the service advisor of the status and how much time is needed and why.
- Work well with other employees.
- Always maintain a high level of professionalism.
- Be courteous to other people in the business, patrons of the business, on the road or out in public when wearing our branded uniform.
- Oversee the training of apprentice technicians.
- When required, answer the telephone with prescribed methods (supplied by management).

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Preferred associate degree (A. A.) equivalent from two-year College or vocational training; and 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a similar setting.
Knowledge of the use and operation of all automotive equipment and testing equipment, gauges and tools normally associated with troubleshooting and repair.
Certificates and Licenses:
Currently hold at minimal 6 (ASE) Certifications: Electrical/Electrical Systems, Brakes, Suspension and Steering, Engine Repair, Engine Performance, Heating and Air Conditioning
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable through company’s provider.
