Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Service Writer to join our team at a reputable heavy duty repair facility. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring that their vehicle maintenance and repair needs are met efficiently and effectively. This role requires a strong understanding of automobile service processes, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Duties
- Greet customers promptly and professionally upon arrival at the service department.
- Assess customer needs by discussing vehicle issues and recommending appropriate services.
- Create detailed service estimates based on diagnostics and vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Schedule service appointments and manage the workflow within the service department.
- Collaborate with mechanics to ensure accurate understanding of repairs needed and communicate any changes in estimates or timelines to customers.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and customer interactions.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints with professionalism, aiming for resolution and satisfaction.
- Promote additional services such as maintenance packages, and other offerings to enhance opportunities.
Experience
- Previous experience in a heavy duty service environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with diagnostics, estimating, and vehicle maintenance practices is essential.
- Strong communication skills with an ability to convey technical information clearly to customers.
- Sales experience is a plus, particularly in a service context.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of service procedures is advantageous.
