Full Time Body Shop Technician Job Description
CIT is looking for a Body Shop Technician to join our team! The right candidate will have proficiency in the use of all tools of trade (including welding equipment, paint equipment, shop machines and power tools and an eagerness to learn.) The daily duties of this role include quality repair, identify and resolve parts required for repair, and further inspections made for additional or hidden repairs.
Compensation range is $25.00 to $30.00 per hour.

Responsibilities Include:
- Identify and resolve parts required for repair; review repair orders, work order and Body Shop Managers estimate notes; follow warranty guidelines; notify supervisor of any repair add-ons
- Adjust, replace, and repair all series of truck and trailer equipment (e.g.,sheet metal repairs, fiberglass/panel repairs, fabrication and structural welding, installation and alignment of truck cab body components, electrical and mechanical repairs, etc.)
- Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills including truck manufacturer's repair process.
- Perform work as outlined on repair estimates with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and factory standards
- Tear down and inspect for additional hidden repairs
- Advise body shop estimator of additional damage or supplemental needs or if repairs will not be completed on time
- Lead work of any apprentice technicians and maintain ASE certifications
Qualifications of the Body Shop Technician:
- Welding, suspension, framework experience a plus OR willing to learn/train
- ASE Certifications; Damage Analysis and Estimating, Mechanical and Electrical Components, Non-Structural Analysis and Damage Repair and State Vehicle Inspector (preferred)
- Certification listed above or equivalent experience and eagerness to improve
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Must complete a background check
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Diagnosis and repairs for all damaged equipment along with fundamental maintenance repairs to tractors and trucks using well-established policies and procedures to restore equipment back to its' original state.
- Able to perform safe and meaningful welding practices to include aluminum
- Installs and removes decals, as necessary
- Identifies parts and/or systems for repair; repairs or replaces, as appropriate, such as radiator replacements, CAC and Condenser replacements as needed.
- Removes broken parts and replaces with new reconditioned parts.
- Road tests vehicles to diagnose issues and ensure a safe operating vehicle.
- Raises equipment using hydraulic jacks
- Inspects, repairs and maintains general trailer structural and suspension systems.
- Maintains accurate, updated maintenance records.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Five (5) years of experience in a Truck or Automotive Body Shop repair
- Experience in Fiberglass repair to repair vehicles to company standards to include panel repairs, straightening and filling when required.
- In-depth knowledge of all hand, air and power tools required for this industry
- Basic understanding and knowledge of welding and Oxy/Acetylene cutting procedures
- Clean Driving Record
- High School education or GED
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
