Job Description
Basic Purpose
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving mechanical/technical work in the repair and maintenance of automobile, truck, boat, heavy equipment, or other engines or motors and related assemblies or in the supervision/management of a fleet maintenance or repair facility.
Typical Functions

Perform major and minor preventative maintenance service on state vehicles such as civilian and pursuit capable vehicles and equipment; Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic problems; operate diagnostic tools and computer software; weld and fabricate.

Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work environment; inspect and test equipment for safety and proper working order.

Adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical personnel which may include employees and customers on an as-required basis while performing roadside assistance, towing needs, and rollback services.

Operate a variety of automotive wreckers to retrieve disabled units statewide. Rollback, stinger, wheel lift wreckers etc.

Diagnose or repair problems with electronic equipment, such as emergency lighting.

Disassembly of vehicles. Ranging from OEM automotive equipment to law enforcement related equipment.

Install and modify vehicle related components and accessories according to vendor and or agency specifications. Including weapon vaults, push bumpers, camper shells, etc.

Assist Transportation Managers with transporting vehicles to/from local vendors for various repairs.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent. Knowledge and/or experience with 12-volt systems and automotive engine mechanics is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Familiarity with hand tools, power tools and other equipment related to the automotive industry.

Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Work independently in a fast-paced environment with little to no supervision.

Efficiently and effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Possess good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and accurately.
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license. Able lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds.
