Duties:

Inspect, diagnose and locate mechanical problems on city automobiles, motor cycles, and a variety of small equipment including lawn mowers and weed eaters.

Overhaul, repair and adjust engines, transmissions, differential, clutches, chainsaws and other related equipment.

Repair, adjust and replace brake systems including disc, hydraulic and air brakes.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Two years of experience performing minor and major vehicle and equipment repair duties comparable to that of a Mechanic I in the City of Jackson.

Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade, diploma or GED; supplemented by specialized training in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair.

Maintain possession of, or ability to obtain, appropriate, valid driver's license.

Possession of National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification as a Master Automobile Technician or equivalent. Must furnish repair/hand tools.

PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
