Job Title: Shop Foreman Essential Duties:
- Assists technicians in developing their skills
- Provides technical support for technicians when necessary
- Ensures repairs are charged out correctly
- Checks progress of each repair order throughout the day
- Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks
- Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality
- Road tests vehicles to quality-check work performed
- Monitors technicians’ daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records
- Monitors shop condition, including cleanliness, safety, and the condition of shop equipment
- Ensures the proper care, storage, and inventory of special tools
- Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommends purchases
- Fills in for service advisor when necessary
- Strives for harmony and teamwork within the shop
- Maintains a safe work environment
- Maintains a professional appearance

Education and Experience:
- Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of modern methods of maintaining and repairing automotive, medium/heavy duty trucks and equipment Knowledge of operating principles and maintenance of gasoline and diesel-powered engines
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers
Reasoning Skills:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exist
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables Ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive process
Physical Demands:
- Works in various weather conditions with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, grease/oils, electrical energy
- Have visual acuity to perform visual inspections involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines
- Body agility: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping
- Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touch Dexterity: whole-hand (grabbing and holding) and fingertip (picking and pinching)
Certifications:
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license Commercial driver’s license preferred
