Job Summary
This position supports the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and will require rotating shifts at Pump Station locations and daily work at remote mountain top sites maintaining prime power generation equipment, HVAC systems and shelters. The typical schedule is 6 weeks on, 3 weeks off working 10 hours/day 7 days/week. Extensive travel is required. Must be willing to fly in helicopters on a daily basis. Must be willing and able to work alone and as part of a team in varying and harsh climate conditions. Current AK DL required; current AK CDL is desired. This position is represented by the Teamsters local 959. Applicants must be registered with the Union, have a current dues receipt and a current resume on file in the Anchorage dispatch office that reflects the qualifications required by the Employer, to be referred by the Union for this position.
Duties
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on power generation and HVAC equipment.
- Analyze mechanical issues and troubleshoot problems using logical reasoning and technical skills.
- Maintain and manage fuel storage and delivery systems in support of prime power sites.
- Source parts as needed to ensure machinery operates efficiently.
- Maintain and repair remote shelters as necessary.
- Utilize tools such as a multimeter for electrical diagnostics and repairs.
- Collaborate with team members to improve equipment reliability and performance.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client concerns and delivering timely solutions.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean work environment.
Requirements
- Five years experience specifically in operation & maintenance of power generation equipment (5-150Kw), or HVAC/facility building control, or automotive/diesel engine mechanic background.
- Proven experience as a Diesel Engine Mechanic or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance practices and procedures.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools.
- Ability to analyze mechanical systems and troubleshoot effectively.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Building/Facility maintenance experience a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.33 - $45.19 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
