The
Automotive Wiring Technician is responsible for the assembly and installation of the wiring and electrical components on the wheelchair-accessible vehicle conversions we produce while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
What you'll do:
- Remove the vehicle’s rear bumper, lower interior trim, seats, and carpeting as needed and organize the removed items on a labeled cart.
- Cut, extend, and reroute vehicle wiring within the vehicle.
- Add wiring to vehicles for hydraulic ramp systems and specialty adaptive equipment.
- Build and install wiring harnesses and control modules for fuel tanks and automatic ramp systems.
- Reconnect wiring for fuel and ABS systems after conversion is completed and test & inspect for proper operation.
- Use hand and power tools including, but not limited to, ratchet, wire strippers, snips, soldering iron, impact, air tools, etc.
- Maintain equipment, inspect for performance and/or safety concerns and perform trouble-shooting as needed.
- Maintain compliance with Freedom Motors’ quality and safety standards, policies and procedures, and OSHA safety regulations.
- Ability to read wiring schematics and diagrams and follow both written and verbal work instructions.
- Assist other areas as needed.
What you’ll need:
- Coursework beyond High School Diploma preferred.
- Previous experience with automotive systems, wiring or electrical diagnostics preferred. ASE electrical certification preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use hand and power tools including, but not limited to, ratchet, wire strippers, snips, soldering iron, impact, air tools, etc.
- Ability to read wiring schematics and diagrams and follow both written and verbal work instructions.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Outstanding attendance record and reliability.
