Position Overview:
This individual contributor position is responsible for the heaviest and most extensive body repair during all aspects of the vehicle reconditioning process while providing training to associates within the Cosmetic Department.
What you'll be doing:
- Perform cosmetic services such as blocking, body filler, crease repair, hail damage repair, and plastic repair.
- Complete heavy bodywork, rebuild body lines, stud welding, wheel, and rim repair.
- Complete extensive body repair, including metal pulling, roof repair, stud welding, rocker panels, door skin replacement, chrome bumper repair, and repairing multiple panels.
- Complete cosmetic/paint repair, including master paint tech, wheel, and airbrush
- Complete body repair on complex vehicles that contain the heaviest work content.
- Train other associates on proper methods of vehicle prep and body repair.
- Concisely and collaboratively communicate with the Cosmetic team to ensure additional work on a vehicle is complete when needed. Communicating across zones/departments regularly to assist in issue resolution
- Follow proper operating rules, procedures, and standardized work initiatives as assigned.
- Maintain a clean and productive work environment by keeping tools and supplies organized throughout the Cosmetic department.
- Other duties as assigned.
What the job requires:
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of paint, body experience, or collision repair education (ASE certification desired).
- Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- A valid Driver's License.
- Ability to safely operate a vehicle.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to work as a team player and interact with coworkers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to physically operate vehicle equipment and tools.
- Ability to maintain consistent and strong attention to detail.
- Maintain a moderate understanding of vehicle mechanical repair.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with other team members and departments involved in the vehicle reconditioning process.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English and understand and follow procedures and guidelines.
- Ability to review, analyze, identify problems, and make decisions.
- Ability to work on a variety of vehicle tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both written and oral.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing production environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently; a majority of lifting from knee to shoulder heights; other lifting required from various levels.
- Must be able to carry and transport up to 60 pounds up to 20 feet.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods with frequent stretching, reaching, walking, stooping, pushing, and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance.
- Must maintain excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity.
- Ability to use safety equipment that may include but is not limited to face shields or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, masks, and other protective garments and equipment.
- Ability to work in excessive weather conditions such as rain, snow, heat, etc.
- Strong communication skills to engage with all departments at the Inspection Center.
