Job Description
Basic Purpose
As a Vehicle Upfit Technician, you will be responsible for modifying, customizing, and maintaining vehicles to meet the agency’s mission. This includes the installation of aftermarket equipment, performing repairs, and ensuring the functionality and safety of the agency vehicles.
Typical Functions

Install and modify vehicle related components and accessories according to vendor and or agency specifications. Including emergency lighting, in-car video systems, two-way radios, K9 kennel systems, weapon vaults, push bumpers, camper shells, etc.

Diagnose or repair problems with electronic equipment, such as emergency lighting, electronic surveillance equipment, communication equipment and storage systems.

Inspect and repair electrical or electrical systems failures, operate diagnostic tools, computer software.

Consult with staff to determine the nature of malfunctions.

Disassembly of vehicles. Ranging from OEM automotive equipment to law enforcement related equipment.

Assist Transportation Managers with transporting vehicles to/from local vendors for various repairs.

Disposing of outdated assets including vehicles and law enforcement equipment.

Candidate may be required to serve as a backup tow truck/wrecker driver to retrieve disabled vehicles statewide.

Perform Lot Attendant duties such as receive, move, arrange, maintain the appearance of vehicles, check for damages, stores keys and ensure the orderliness of a vehicle parking lot.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.

Able lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds.
