Repairs and maintains heavy diesel equipment such as shovels, loaders, graders, dozers, haul trucks, service vehicles, and other related equipment by using hand tools, power tools, and other diagnostic equipment. Field-test equipment to evaluate performance in addition to performing welding and cutting as needed.
- 1. Gather technical information as needed to perform the job at hand. Troubleshoot, diagnose, modify, fabricate, and repair the electrical and hydraulic systems, the diesel engines, drive trains, and track equipment undercarriages of both mobile and stationary equipment. Utilize specialized testing equipment and electric systems knowledge to perform the aforementioned tasks.
2. Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose problems and/or defects and to verify repairs were successful. Ensure proper disposal of waste materials.
3. Prepare computer generated work orders, change out parts, and follow procedures to pick up parts and supplies from the warehouse. Prepare all associated paperwork for the Accounting Department and those needed to make a smooth shift transition.
4. Perform equipment walk around and does preventative maintenance checks and inspections on all assigned equipment. Report findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action.
5. Train other employees as needed.
6. Responsible for all tasks related to the preventative maintenance program such as reposting fluid leaks, performing lube work, taking fluid samples, and inspecting components and parts for proper operation, damage, or wear. Repair and replace components as needed.
7. Weld as needed.
8. Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
9. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
10. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
11. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
12. Work safely in all areas and identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them.
13. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
14. Perform other duties as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred with applicable vocational technical training and/or experience in mining/heavy industrial equipment maintenance preferred.
1. Must have the ability to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
2. Working knowledge of manuals and diagnostic tools.
3. A thorough understanding of A/C and hydraulic troubleshooting/repairing in addition to understanding of VIMS, SIS, and ET systems.
4. A strong working knowledge of electrical, fuel, and cooling systems and be able to troubleshoot/repair them.
5. Ability to use hand tools and trade specific tools.
6. Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions required.
7. Must have own hand tools of up to ¾” drive to perform necessary maintenance.
8. Must have solid verbal and written communication skills.
9. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
10. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
11. Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
12. Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of attached checklists.
