Carson Chevrolet is expanding rapidly, and we are looking to hire a Automotive Used Car Technician to join our team with top pay.
A used car technician is responsible for performing diagnostic tests, identifying issues, and conducting repairs on pre-owned vehicles to ensure they meet safety and performance standards. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
Pay rate is dependent on your skill and training level. For entry level applicants tools are not required, all others must have tools to perform their duties. You must be able to physically perform the duties of a Technician such as heavy lifting, bending down and standing long hours etc.
Responsibilities
- A used car technician is responsible for performing diagnostic tests, identifying issues, and conducting repairs on pre-owned vehicles to ensure they meet safety and performance standards
- This role requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Thoroughly inspect pre-owned vehicles to identify any mechanical, electrical, or safety issues
- Document and report the condition of each vehicle, including necessary repairs and maintenance
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems
- Perform computerized diagnostic tests to assess the overall health of the vehicle
- Conduct repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and other components as needed
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks
- Identify and recommend the replacement of worn-out or damaged parts
- Source and order necessary replacement parts to complete repairs
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and parts used
- Provide detailed reports on the condition of each vehicle and the work performed
- Ensure that all repairs meet safety and quality standards
- Conduct road tests to verify the effectiveness of repairs
- Communicate with customers to explain identified issues and proposed repairs
- Provide cost estimates for repairs and obtain customer approval before starting work
- Stay updated on industry trends, safety regulations, and manufacturer guidelines
- Adhere to environmental and safety standards in the workplace
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00 - $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
