The Automatic Transmission Diagnostic/Overhaul Service Technician will accurately diagnose and repair transmissions following all established standards and procedures for transmission repairs and must complete all training and classes required. He/she will diagnose all types of automatic transmission malfunctions, both electrical and mechanical, and will repair, overhaul, and replace automatic transmissions as needed. The technician will perform all warranty and non-warranty inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair work and oversee all apprentice employees assigned. Customer satisfaction comes from personal work habits and ethics and is of the utmost importance as part of this job. The technician will ensure customer satisfaction by completing the job correctly, cleanly, honestly, and on time for every service visit. In addition, the Technician will set goals for personal service improvement and will monitor his/her progress against customer satisfaction index numbers and production numbers as provided by the Service Manager.
The ideal candidate has at least four years of transmission experience, a clean driving record, and an aptitude for vehicle maintenance. Candidates must have excellent customer service skills and good computer skills and must be able to drive a manual transmission.
Responsibilities
- Diagnoses, repairs, replaces automatic transmissions
- Performs routine service inspections or tests and completes standard maintenance jobs
- Maintains cleanliness of vehicles while performing service or repairs
- Ensures that the required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
- Check all fluids and maintenance-related parts and tops-off or replaces fluids or filters/parts as required
- Takes and passes all classes and trainings
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Four years of automatic transmission experience required
- Must be able to diagnose all automatic transmission malfunctions, both electrical and mechanical
- Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
- Must be able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles
- Neat, clean, and professional appearance
- Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting professionally with customers, vendors, and staff
- Good computer and internet skills
