Job Description/summary
The Field Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing scheduled maintenance on fuel powered (internal combustion) and electric material handling equipment. He/She will act as a principal contact between the Service Department and the Customer. He/She will work with the Service Coordinator/Service Manager and respond to calls as required. He/She will provide Unprecedented Customer Service Of the Highest Quality and Personal Integrity.
Skills/Responsibilities
- Reports to Service Manager and maintains a close working relationship with Service Coordinator, Parts Department Staff, Customer Service Sales Staff and other Office Personnel.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic to complex repairs of material handling equipment
- Perform thorough forklift inspections to identify any repairs that are needed. Document and report all findings of potential or additional repairs necessary on every work order
- Consult with customers in regard to needed repairs or additional maintenance items that are needed or will exceed the original estimate. Communicates with the customer when a repair cannot be completed at the time of service
- Keeps Service Manager informed of any and all potential customer concerns
- Must follow all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Safety Manual
- The ability to understand service and training manuals, including the ability to interpret schematics and effectively use electrical diagnostic tools
- Paperwork and documentation must be neat, clean, legible, organized, complete and turned in within 2 days of job completion
- Manages WIP (Work in Process) to ensure all repairs are completed in a timely manner
- Effectively communicate with customers, co-workers and members of management
- Refers all Service, Rental or New and Used Equipment Sales Leads to the appropriate people
- Clear penmanship and ability to record accurate information
- Upkeep and safe operation of Company Service Vehicle. Manages van inventory and orders parts needed for jobs through the parts department
- Follows Manufacturer’s warranty standards. Returns all warranty parts to the Service Manager
- Maintains a clean, neat and orderly work area at customer locations as well as properly disposing of all waste materials
- Maintains personal grooming, cleanliness and uniforms in accordance to company policy
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (and occasionally in excess of 50 lbs.)
- Must have basic computer skills
- Attend All Required safety meetings, training classes and online courses as required
- Performs other miscellaneous tasks and duties as directed by management
Work Experience Requirements
- 2-3 years of relevant experience
Education/Certification/License Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Maintains a valid PA & DE Driver’s Licenses
Work Conditions/Physical demands
Must have the physical stamina to perform continuously will full body motion for reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, etc. Work is performed in a maintenance environment with potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, or solvents which require knowledge and compliance of proper safety procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Manual. Work is performed at customer locations, including manufacturing, warehouses, and cold storage facilities and in other (sometimes) difficult or outdoor environments. May include working in our shop area.
