Job Summary
Barlow Chevrolet is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair and maintenance, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who is passionate about vehicles and committed to delivering high-quality service to our customers.
An Automotive Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of vehicles. This position will utilize technical skills and knowledge of automotive systems to ensure the efficient and safe operation of vehicles.
Responsibilities of an Automotive Technician include, but are not limited to the following duties:
- Perform diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine the appropriate repair methods;
- Repair and replace defective or worn-out parts/ components of vehicles, such as engines, brakes, transmissions, electrical systems, and other mechanical parts;
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and filter replacements;
- Emissions inspections;
- Maintain Accurate records of all services and repairs performed on vehicles;
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment;
- Stay up to date with the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques through training and professional development opportunities;
- Annual compliance training;
- Other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
- Valid Driver's license in good standing;
- 1 year of Auto Technician/ Mechanic experience;
- Regular and consistent attendance and timeliness is essential;
- In-person work is essential;
- ASE Certification not required but preferred;
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and computerized diagnostics;
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment;
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills;
- Ability to read and interpret repair manuals;
- Familiarity with automotive repair software and computerized systems;
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in diagnosing and repairing vehicles;
- Good communication skills to interact with customers;
- Must have own tools;
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
Work Environment: Exposure to various weather conditions including hot and cold temperatures. May be exposed to chemicals and noise levels that can be distracting.
Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time; Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; Ability to operate a variety of small hand and power tools.
