Isuzu is looking to add a Second Shift Vehicle Inspector (3:00 pm - 11:00 pm) to their team in Charlotte, MI. This position will start as a contract position with potential to convert to direct hire within the first year. Selected candidate will be placed at a preferred contract agency for employment.
JOB SUMMARY
Performs daily final vehicle inspections of all completed vehicles referencing inspection criteria identified in the Inspection Standards. Verifies final vehicle quality conforms to installation methods outlined in the Assembly Manual. Also verifies conformance of any rework or repair completed on the vehicles.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
70% 1. Conducts daily inspection of under frame, above frame, exterior, and interior components of all completed vehicles ensuring and confirming conformance to all quality criteria established in the Inspection Standards and conformance to assembly criteria established in the Assembly Manual.
15% 2. Confirms quality and assembly criteria conformance on any rework or repair completed by production and repair departments.
5% 3. Prepares final vehicle inspection audit reports, detailing results of such inspection.
5% 4. Confirms all necessary traceability documentation prepared by production department is completed and retained, meeting all record retention policies set forth by Isuzu.
5% 5. Performs joint torque verification and/or tool verification activities related to necessary collection of daily quality data.
6. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to: Manager, Quality Control
- Indirectly reports to: VP, CV Production & Logistics and AVP, CV Production
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
- High school diploma or equivalent; training as automotive technician (commercial vehicle) desirable
- Minimum three years automotive technician or related field experience
- Minimum one year automotive manufacturing experience
- DOT medical examiners certificate required
KNOWLEDGE
- Basic automotive technical knowledge; commercial vehicle knowledge desirable
- Good understanding of the complete vehicle and components
- National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration guidelines desirable
- Commercial Vehicle Safety Operation guidelines desirable
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proficient PC skills in Window applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to understand/read related assembly and quality documents, part drawings, and print specifications
PHYSICAL STANDARDS
The employee must be able to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer. Requires frequent lifting of average objects (25-60 lbs.), occasional lifting of light (5-25 lbs.) and heavy (over 60 lbs.), and rare instances of lifting light objects (5 lbs. or less). Position will be exposed to a manufacturing environment involving dust, heat, cold, fumes, and noise. Safety glasses and hearing protection is required. Involves standing for long periods of time and high amounts of bending, pushing, and pulling; minimal amounts of kneeling or stooping.
Pay for this position is $22/hour when training/working on day shift. Pay will increase to $24.20/hour when transitioned to working on second shift. Training on days is typically expected to last a few weeks depending on experience.
