As a DMV Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all title-related processes within the dealership, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves coordinating title transfers, lien releases, and other documentation while maintaining accurate records and providing exceptional customer service. You will ensure a seamless experience for our guests and directly impact whether we become their favorite place to purchase, lease, or service their vehicle.
Responsibilities:
- Train and oversee the DMV process of all dealerships in California.
- Follow up on status of vehicle titles and reconcile monies collected versus amounts paid for DMV processing.
- Provide support as needed in anything pertaining to titles and dealership questions.
- Prepare legal transfer documents for the Department of Motor Vehicles including vin verifiers and DMV renewals.
- Stay abreast of all DMV regulations, changes, and laws.
- Manages a team of 4 for a busy group of dealerships
- Examine sales/car deal contracts to assure conformity to specified requirements
- Verify all documents are signed and completed properly
- Process paperwork on a timely basis
- Receive and process paperwork from the F&I department
- Prepare trade-in vehicle jackets and ensure the title is obtained
- Ensure that name and address files are updated on an ongoing basis
- License all new, wholesale, and used vehicles for in and out of State customers
- Apply for all duplicate titles needed for in and out of State
- Obey all DMV compliance filings
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Demonstrates a high “HQ” (Hospitality Quotient) consisting of kindness & optimism, intellectual curiosity, work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity.
- 5+ years of DMV/Title Experience
- DMV experience with multiple states and out of state transactions preferred.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Knowledge of Dealer Track processing and Reynolds & Reynolds DMS
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet all deadlines
- Professional appearance and work ethic
- Strong attention to detail
- Team-oriented and comfortable in an open office
- Ability to work overtime as needed during month end and the first business day of each month
Physical Requirements:
- Standing and walking: Title managers often need to move around the dealership, interacting with customers, sales representatives, and other staff.
- Lifting and carrying: This could involve moving files, paperwork, or occasionally assisting with vehicle-related tasks (e.g., moving keys or documents).
- Sitting for extended periods: Much of the role involves working at a desk, reviewing documents, and using computers.
