Job Summary:
The Forklift Mechanic is responsible for complete diagnosis and repair of Propane and Diesel Forklifts. Lift capacities vary from 4,000 to 20,000 lbs forklifts.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Observe functioning of forklifts to detect hazards/problems and need for adjustments, repairs or replacement
- Repair and maintain forklifts within the facility.
- Perform preventive maintenance on forklift equipment.
- Safely disassemble, and repair or replace broken parts.
- Dismantle, test and analyze malfunctioning equipment, hand tools and power tool and tests apparatus to locate defects.
- Clean and lubricate parts.
- Document all work performed.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Requirements:
- Must be adept at trouble shooting problems.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience as an industrial forklift mechanic.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical processes and procedures.
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical tools and equipment.
- Must be able to work safely and independently.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment when in manufacturing areas

Physical Demands: The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and is regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.
