Position: Lube Technician (Full-Time)
Reports To: Service Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lube Tech assists with minor automotive work while assisting the service department with day-to-day operations. Their primary job functions include changing oil, rotating tires, and inspecting customer vehicles for repairs that might be needed beyond what is shown on the work order to ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition.
Realize that during any interaction with customers, the employee should remember the HERO (Helpful, Exceeds expectations, Represents us well, takes Ownership) program. Also, the customer is the highest priority of any employee of Wilson County Motors.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Draining the oil from a vehicle and replacing it to manufacturer specifications.
- Top off other fluids, including brake, power steering, and windshield wiper fluid.
- Inspect the engine block and underbody for leaks and potential issues.
- Checking tire pressure and filling tires with air as needed to manufacturer specifications.
- Installing new car parts, such as air filters, oil filters, windshield wipers, and batteries.
- Lubricating moving parts as necessary, including those in the engine and wheel bearings.
- Torque the drain plug and wheel lugs to recommended specification.
- Fill all vehicle fluids to the manufactures recommended specifications.
- Communicate to the Service Advisor any needed repairs not listed on the RO.

- Arrive at your place of work on time as scheduled.
- Hourly employees must clock in and out using the Company’s time recording system.
- Effectively diagnose and repair vehicles being serviced.
- Effective analytical and communication skills and eagerness to improve.
- Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures, and specifications.
- Perform work following company and manufacturer procedures.
- Safely perform duties and report safety issues to your supervisor immediately.
- Actively listen and follow directions.
- Complete required training on time.
- Maintain a valid In-State Driver’s License.
REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES
- High school diploma, GED, or combination of work/education equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to produce a favorable result from a drug test and criminal background review.
- Must have basic hand tools to perform the job. (Socket set, screwdrivers, battery operated impact wrench are examples)
- Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate clearly.
- Prior experience performing the same or similar job.
- Available to work a Saturday rotation schedule.
PREFERRED SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Three (3) months of recent experience performing the same or similar job.
- Prior experience working at an automotive dealership is desired but not required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The employee will be standing and moving throughout the service department for the entire shift. It may require lifting, pushing, or pulling weights of more than 75 lbs. Duties will be performed primarily indoors but may be exposed to the elements when transporting vehicles and when bay doors are opened in the roofed area.
