ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Directs and coordinates the body repair and painting of vehicles. Inspects and gives estimates of vehicles to determine need for and cost of repairs by performing the following duties.
- Determines need for repairs by road test, by use of mechanical testing devices, by questioning customer about vehicles performance, or by visual inspection of vehicle.
- Estimates cost of repair and prepares itemized work order, listing costs or parts and labor.
- Makes minor adjustments or repairs such as brake adjustment, battery cable replacement, or hinge lubrication.
- Directs and schedules the activities of all body shop employees.
- Prepares final billing for completed repairs.
- Works with insurance adjusters/companies on estimates and agreement of repairs.
- Orders parts and shop supplies.
- Ensures quality of repairs to customer vehicles and handles customer complaints.
- Prepares and monitors payroll records.
- Forecasts goals and objectives and strives to meet them.
- Understands and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that effect body shop operations.
- Required to stay up to date on all I-CAR, ASE, and manufacturer training.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises 5 to 20 employees in the department. Carries our supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
