JOB DESCRIPTION:
Repairs and services road construction and maintenance equipment for Camden County. Picks up/drops off parts or equipment as needed. Diagnoses equipment operating problems. Determine extent of needed repair; inspect used parts to determine the cause of mechanical failure and evaluate whether parts are still usable or need to be replaced; Prioritizes work in consultations with District. Repairs equipment. Overhauls engines and transmissions, air and hydraulic brake systems, clutches, differentials, axles and suspension, ignition and electrical systems, computerized and electronic ignition systems, steering and control systems. Rebuilds pumps and motors, diagnoses electronic and hydraulic malfunctions and designs and fabricates parts and tools. Perform welding; use a wide variety of test equipment and shop tools; overhaul exhaust systems. Consults inventories for parts, lubricants, tires, belts, fuels, etc. maintains equipment operation and maintenance activity logs. Changes oil, repairs tires, and change grader and snow plow blades on County equipment. Consult and/or aid in performing routine maintenance and servicing of equipment and trucks. Operates equipment to remove snow and spread salt and chat. On call 24 hours a day for emergency services. Performs other duties as assigned.
