This position is located in the Department of For-Hire Vehicles (DFHV) Office of Taxicabs, Assistant Supervisory Vehicle Inspection Officer (V[O). The Assistant Supervisory Vehicle Inspection Officer is responsible for directing, supervising, and coordinating the activities and operations of Lead Vehicle Inspection Officer, including enforcement, compliance, management, and oversight of all subordinate Vehicle Inspection Officers (VI O's). The incumbent works under the supervisor and the direction of the Supervisory Vehicle Inspection Officer. The incumbent works with independence in carrying out assignments but is responsible for providing progress reports to the Supervisory Vehicle Inspection Officer on progress, potential issues and recommended solutions, and direct consequences. The incumbent directly supervises subordinate VIO is; assigns work schedules; oversees employees' job performance and is responsible for the selection, performance evaluation, training, and discipline of the VIO's.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Supervisory VIO's, is responsible for the day to day operations, services, and activities of' subordinate VI O's. Incumbent manages, develops, and implement the goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs; recommends and administers policies and procedures. The incumbent i11 this position will establish goals, long-range strategic plans, objectives, policies, directives, and procedures based on the guidelines of the DC laws and DFHV regulations. The incumbent is responsible for continuously monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness and responsiveness of the VIO's. Incumbent plans, directs, coordinates, and reviews the work plan for PYE! staff; assigns work activities and schedules.
Qualifications and Education
Individuals must have specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade 11 level. Specialized experience is work which is directly related to the position which has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

The work is performed in an office setting, and periodically outdoor activity related to in-field enforcement, oversight, and observations.
