Summary
The individual in this role will be responsible for servicing cars brought into the shop, as well as vehicles being reconditioned for sale on our lot. From basic maintenance and to minor automotive repairs. We are seeking a candidate with a background in automotive care.
Essential Duties
- Examine cars based on requests and/or concerns
- Perform basic diagnostics on a vehicle to identify problems with the engine, transmission, brakes, and other parts of the vehicle
- Replace, rotate, and repair tires, verify tire pressure is at the proper inflation level, and balance as needed
- Report areas of concern and document all work performed
- Replenish vehicle fluids
- Replace cabin air filters and wiper blades
- Installing vehicle batteries
- Perform oil changes and complete inspection check list
- Follow checklists to ensure thorough examination of all parts and systems is completed
- Repair or replace worn parts and systems such as spark plugs, wheel bearings, brake pads, fuel systems, and sensors
- Perform repairs thoroughly and accurately, using the agreed to repair strategy and specifications of the manufacturer
Other Duties
- Maintain your workspace to ensure area is clean and free from hazards
- Assist teammates when they need and extra set of hands or eyes
- Complete monthly on hoist inspections
- Document pre-repair inspections for existing conditions of the vehicle
Qualifications
- Completion of a postsecondary program in automotive service technology a plus
- Mechanically and analytically minded
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
- Detail oriented and thorough, well organized
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must have own basic hand tools
Physical Demands
- There is considerable activity which requires standing for extended periods of time with limited rest periods.
- The ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement.
- Must be able to lift items above shoulder height and bend at the waist and knees.
- This job requires the use of a wide variety of cleaning products and is exposed to frequent loud noises.
Work Schedule
This job requires that you report to work each workday at 8:00 AM until 5 PM with an unpaid 60-minute lunch period.
This department operates Monday through Friday only
This department may occasionally require overtime depending on the needs of the dealership.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $19.69 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 38 per week
