Summary
Looking for an experienced Technician with strong diagnostic skills. The individual in this role will be responsible for servicing cars brought into the shop, as well as vehicles being reconditioned for sale on our lot requiring minor repairs to full automobile service. We are seeking a candidate with a background in automotive care as well as experience with electronic systems maintenance. Sorry, we are only looking for very experienced technician with a strong background in automotive mechanical work.
** No Saturdays - Air Conditioned Shop - Hourly Pay with additonal earning potential
Essential Duties
- Examine cars based on requests and/or concerns
- Test systems and individual parts to ensure proper working order or to evaluate degree of required repairs
- Follow checklists to ensure thorough examination of all parts and systems is completed
- Identify mechanical and electrical problems with both computerized diagnostic equipment and visual inspection
- Determine appropriate repair measures based on research, peer-to-peer examination, and experience
- Present estimates to Service Manager including a strategy for repairs, an explanation and process used to diagnose problems, and prepare an itemized list of required components needed to resolve the issue.
- Repair or replace worn parts and systems such as spark plugs, wheel bearings, brake pads, fuel systems, and sensors
- Perform repairs thoroughly and accurately, using the agreed to repair strategy and specifications of the manufacturer
Other Duties
- Maintain your workspace to ensure area is clean and free from hazards
- Assist teammates when they need and extra set of hands or eyes
- Provide input on departmental discussions for process improvement
- Complete monthly on hoist inspections
- Pre-repair inspections for existing conditions of the vehicle
Qualifications
- Completion of a postsecondary program in automotive service technology a plus
- Experience with wheel alignment machines
- Experience with electronic systems maintenance and repair preferred
- Experience in engine performance preferred
- Mechanically and analytically minded
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
- Detail oriented and thorough, well organized
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must have own basic hand tools
Physical Demands
- There is considerable activity which requires standing for extended periods of time with limited rest periods.
- The ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement.
- Must be able to lift items above shoulder height and bend at the waist and knees.
- This job requires the use of a wide variety of cleaning products and is exposed to frequent loud noises.
Work Schedule
This job requires that you report to work each workday at 8:00 AM until 5 PM with an unpaid 60-minute lunch period.
This department operates Monday through Friday. Closed Saturdays and Sundays.
Ocassionaly this department may require overtime depending on the needs of the dealership.
