This is a skilled mechanical work in the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of motor vehicle and/or automotive body and paint repair.
- Efficiently assemble and disassemble a variety of vehicle makes and models.
- Assist with paint preparation, including taping, prepping, priming and seam sealing.
- Productively repair and replace panels including fenders, door skins, quarter panels, dents, and other repairs.
- Use hand and power tools to cut, shape, and smooth metal surfaces.
- Inspect welded joints for quality and make necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Works with body shop management to develop and achieve individual goals for production and quality work.
- Promotes a productive working relationship with others.
- Provides clear and legible record of service completed or additional repairs needed for both customer and shop use.
- Assists estimator as necessary to explain repairs to customers or determine estimates.
- Prioritizes work to meet demands and customer needs; plans ahead to complete work in allotted time frames.
- Completes repair orders within specified time frame, foresees delays, and alerts appropriate personnel promptly.
- Performs preventive maintenance, cleaning, and repairs on shop tools and equipment; ensures facility is clean and organized at all times.
- Follows all hazardous waste and OSHA safety regulations and company policies.
- Stays up-to-date on the latest technical services through training, vendors, etc.
- Properly disposes of used parts, cores, and returns unused parts to the parts person.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- One or more years of experience as an Automotive Technician I. OR;
- Four or more years of experience as an automotive repair technician/mechanic in a commercial automotive repair shop; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency; and a valid driver’s license. OR;
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or equivalent certification in a minimum of five (5) test areas, three (3) of which have been part of the Automotive & Light Truck series; and two years of experience as an automotive repair technician/mechanic in a commercial automotive repair shop. OR;
- Graduation from a two-year accredited vocational or technical school automotive or collision repair course; and two years of experience as an automotive repair technician/mechanic in a commercial automotive repair shop.
- Intermediate knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions associated with the automotive technician’s trade.
- Skill in the use of computerized automotive system diagnostic tools and repair manuals such as AllData, Indentifix, Michel, Motors, and Chilton.
- Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment required for the maintenance and repairs of motor vehicles.
- Ability to understand and keep abreast and follows industry standards and applicable government safety requirements.
- Ability to routinely kneel, stoop, squat, crawl and climb to perform multiple tasks of the position.
- Ability to lift up 75lbs.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a body technician or in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and reliability.
- Ability to solder, assemble, and weld various types of metal.
- Willingness to continue training to become certified in various areas.
