Shop Manager Full-Time
Summary/Objective:
The mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical issues, conducting repairs, and performing routine maintenance to ensure the safety and efficiency of equipment. The overall fleet consists of Dodge diesel and gas service trucks and a variety of Cat heavy equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Assists with managing shop inventory.
- Plans and coordinates tasks and activities of company’s fleet auto repair shop, working on gas- and diesel-powered vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment.
- Assist and work with divisional leaders to make sure equipment is ready when needed.
- Operates diagnostic equipment to determine repairs that need to be made.
- Performs repairs and maintenance for company vehicles and equipment.
- Maintains database of maintenance and repair records for company vehicles and equipment.
- Ensures all applicable safety standards and regulations are followed in facility.
- Performs other related duties as assigned and/or required.
Work Environment
The company will supply adequate training and equipment to perform the functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work outside in all weather conditions. The employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, cold weather, extreme heat, sustained noisy environment and vibration.
Physical Demands
Must be physically able to climb stairs, stand, walk, carry, push, lift up to 75 lbs and prolonged periods of standing. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
Position type and expected hours of work:
Must be flexible. The typical schedule is M-F with some flexibility in the work schedule. Some weekends/holidays are required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient mechanical skills.
- Proficient organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine repair.
- Knowledge of vehicle, truck, and heavy equipment repair.
- Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
- Ability to read service and repair manuals.
- Must have your own tools and know how to use them.
- Must have your own housing.
- Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must have valid driver’s license and meet company insurance standards.
- 2+ years of related experience is required.
