The Full-Time Painter/Bodyman will play a crucial role in our body shop by performing both body repair and painting tasks. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive skill set in both areas, including the ability to repair, restore, and paint vehicles to a high standard of quality. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities for Painters:
- Preparation:
- Inspect vehicles to assess damage and determine the appropriate repair and painting procedures.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, cleaning, and masking areas not to be painted.
- Mix paint and other materials according to specifications to achieve the desired color and consistency.
- Painting:
- Apply primer, paint, and clear coat using spray guns and other equipment.
- Ensure even coverage and smooth finish by applying multiple coats as necessary.
- Conduct color matching and blending to ensure the painted surface matches the existing color.
- Finishing:
- Inspect finished work for quality and make any necessary touch-ups.
- Remove masking tape and protective coverings once the paint has dried.
- Clean and maintain painting equipment and work areas to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Key responsibilities for Body Repair:
- Inspect and assess vehicle damage to determine the necessary repair procedures.
- Perform body repairs, including panel replacements, dent removal, and frame straightening.
- Use a variety of tools and equipment, such as hydraulic jacks, welders, and pneumatic tools, to complete repairs.
- Sand and prepare surfaces for painting, including the removal of rust and old paint.
