Shop Technician (RPR)

What is a Shop Technician?
The Shop Technician primarily works in the rental repair shop building equipment for use in the oil and gas industry. A Shop Technician may be asked to disassemble and assemble wellhead equipment or various complexity for our FS product line.
In this role, you will:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and procedures
- Execute general shop maintenance such as cleanup of shop, work area and equipment
- Preparation of Equipment for Transport
- Clean, disassemble, assemble, test, and paint Wellhead and Frac equipment
- Necessary upkeep of all hand and power tools
- Perform duties for QHSE as related to safety and quality, training of personnel, safety & quality reports, logs, etc.
- Possibility of some traveling to branches or field to help with repairs (must possess a valid driver’s license and meet the company driver requirement to operate a company vehicle while traveling)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required and Preferred Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of related experience as an automotive mechanic, industrial manufacturing or mechanical maintenance required
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions and procedures
- Working knowledge of mechanical assemblies and basic hand tools
- Driving a forklift; using an overhead crane and power wash bay
- Team play/collaborator
- Ability to read, write and communicate well
- Solve practical problems that exists with a variety of concrete variable in situation where only limited standardization exist
- Ability to work overtime and with a varying schedule as required by the workload
- Limited computer knowledge
- Decide the correct equipment and tools needed to do a job correctly
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, or hear, use hands to manipulate with fingers, handle or feel, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hand and arms
- Occasionally required to sit and smell
- Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling objects that are 50 pounds or less
- Wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, cold and/or hot (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, vibrations
- Ability to see at a close distance (clear vision at 20 inches or less), see at a long distance (clear vision at 20 feet or more), identify and distinguish colors, observe an area that can be seen up and down or left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distance and spatial relationships, three-dimensional vision, adjust to focus (adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus
- Moderate to very loud noises
Education:
- High school degree or equivalent - this requirement may be waived if the applicant has two years of related experience and/or training
