Paint and Body Technician Exp preferred 1-5 yrs
Paint Prep (min 1-3 years professional experience) Mix and apply primer, block sand primed panels. Prep and tape, ask vehicle for paint, nib & fine sand, finish buff and quality check before detail.
· As an Entry Level Auto Body / Paint Prep Repair Technician, you'll be expected to perform light bodywork, including:
· Prepping, sanding, and buffing vehicles
· Removing and installing bumpers
· Minor plastic welding
Small area bodywork (including Bondo repair)
- Mid-Level Auto Body (min 2-3 years professional experience): perform bodywork on multiple panels, including heavy plastic welding, minor metal pulling, understanding of metal straightening, roof and rocker panel repair, stud welding, and large area heavy bodywork (including Bondo repair)
- Experienced Autobody (min 5 years professional experience): extensive bodywork on multiple panels, including structural repair and replacement, plastic welding, metal pulling, metal straightening, roof and rocker panel repair, and stud welding
Responsibilities
· The Body Shop Technician 1 and 2 is responsible for completing Body Shop repairs as outlined by I-Car and manufacturer standards
. Body Shop Technician 2 repair including Fiberglass/SMC, Plastics, Metal/Steel and Aluminum, Welding
· Continuously learn, share and implement improvements in all processes and responsibilities as needed to enhance effectiveness of providing world class service and support
· Review each work order, and estimator’s notes to understand repairs needed prior to beginning work on the vehicle· Perform initial teardown of vehicle and prepare for repair work
· Prepare and repair vehicle per estimate according to manufacturer standards
· De-trim, disassemble and repair vehicle with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
· Maintain/assist with identifying, and or, sourcing parts and material
· Work as a team player to ensure on-time delivery of vehicles
· Meet or exceed requirements for productivity
· Positive attitude and fix it right the first time mentality
· Must currently have or be willing to obtain proper tools to successfully complete job duties as assigned
· Ability to do consistent physical activity - reach below and above shoulder level, kneeling, bending, and squatting, and lifting objects over 50 lbs
· Ability to read and understand instructions, written estimates, and work orders
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
· Work through competing priorities and adapt easily to a fast-paced environment
· Ability to provide personable, friendly customer service to internal and external customers
Notifies management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised time
· Supplies and maintains personal tools and equipment to complete repairs
· Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer
· Checks parts against estimate and ensures proper parts are ordered and received
· Perform all repair procedures according to factory specifications and company policy
· Perform and sign-off on all quality check before sending Vehicle to paint department
· Re-assemble painted Vehicle and painted parts
· Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
· Perform a final quality check and review of work order prior to sending the Vehicle to the detail department
Commission or hourly - based upon experience.
