Job Summary
As a Protech Calibration Technician Apprentice you will be provided mentorship and training to learn how to perform a wide range of Advanced Driver Assistance System Calibrations by following OE specifications and repair standards. You will gain confidence as a calibration technician across a wide range of manufacturers. Initial training is provided by Protech as well as a robust virtual support team and continuing education on new vehicle technology. The goal will be to graduate from a Calibration Technician Apprentice to either a Protech Calibration Technician or On-Site Calibration by the end of the 7th month in this roll.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Customer service focused, ability to develop relationships and deliver operational consistency
- Perform static and dynamic ADAS Calibrations on foreign, domestic and EV (electric) vehicles onsite at customer locations
- Troubleshoot complex calibration repairs
- Test drive vehicles after repairs are completed
- Adequately explain ADAS calibration specifications and repair planning needs; to include collision repair center personnel, insurance adjusters, and direct customers
- Basic knowledge of how to remove and install vehicle parts Example: Bumper, trim panels, mirrors
- Complete pre and post scans with OE and/or aftermarket tools, communicate outcome effectively
- After training completion, must be able to complete static and dynamic calibrations per OE specifications
- Communicate with field team to ensure efficiency and productivity
- Responsible for ensuring tooling software updates are completed immediately
- Accountable for assigned inventory (including vehicles, mobile devices, laptops, OE scan tools, VCI, other equipment provided)
- Participate in virtual (online) training sessions
- Complete assigned training and certifications
- Develop and maintain excellent customer relationships through our company purpose and core values
- Maintain a well-organized work area
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
- 1-year automotive repair experience preferred but not required
- Automotive repair experience preferred but not required
- Trade school experience a plus
- ASE or I-CAR certifications a plus
- Ability to learn and understand collision repair processes and terminology
- Successfully complete Protech ADAS Calibration Training
- Understanding of technology & basic software programs
- Ability to learn Aftermarket and OEM diagnostic scan tools and factory software
- Knowledge and ability to use computers, mobile devices, and related technology efficiently
- Travel may be required for continuing education and certification training
- Self -motivated, positive attitude, with a customer focused vision
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have a valid drivers license and ability to pass MVR check
- Ability to pass a background check
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds independently
- Travel may be required for continuing education and certification training
- Requires standing for extended periods of time with frequent stretching, reaching, walking, and stooping
- Requires frequent driving of company and customer vehicles
- Extensive travel within assigned area is expected
- May have exposure to fumes, dust, and chemicals
- Ability to work in a shop environment in inclement weather
- Required to wear PPE to include but not limited to facial covering, eye protection, gloves
