Overview: Summerset Marine, a leading pier and lift company, is seeking a skilled senior mechanic with heavy-duty experience to join our team. You will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, and repairing diesel trucks, barges, and heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience with diesel engines and hydraulics, as well as a strong commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork. Willing to work on everything!
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Inspect, operate, and test engines and electrical systems to diagnose machine malfunctions.
- Repair and install engines, navigational equipment, operating systems, pumps, hydraulics, and steering mechanisms.
- Follow and maintain a monthly maintenance schedule.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine corrective actions.
- Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience/Educational Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience with heavy equipment, PMs (Preventive Maintenance), and repair.
- Willingness to travel if needed.
- Truck ASE certificate.
- Ability to work on a variety of equipment.
- Must have own tools.
- Welding skills are preferred.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English, including safety rules, operating procedures, manuals, etc.
- Ability to complete tasks and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
- CDL class A is a plus.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints is a plus.
