Skills and qualifications
- An aptitude for mechanical diagnosis and repair
- Demonstrates experience with servicing vehicles
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to work legally in the US
- Be able to pass a drug screening and criminal background check
- Time management and organizational skills as well as hand-eye coordination
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- The ability to read and follow complex directions in manuals as well as relay information in reports
- The physical ability to perform all tasks related to the position of Lube Technician, such as bending and reaching, standing for long periods of time, and lifting over 60 pounds
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment.
- Produce legible and accurate paperwork reflecting work performed.
Duties and responsibilities
- Draining the oil from a vehicle and replacing it to manufacturer specifications
- Topping off other fluids, including brake, power steering and windshield wiper fluid
- Inspecting the engine block and underbody for leaks and potential issues
- Checking tire pressure and filling tires with air as needed to manufacturer specifications
- Installing new truck parts, such as air filters, oil filters, windshield wipers and batteries
- Lubricating moving parts as necessary, including those in the engine and wheel bearings and ensuring the engine is kept clean throughout servicing
- Diagnosing existing issues and consulting with lead mechanics on the team to address the vehicles’ issues
- Repair brake and steering systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems.
- Replace or repair transmissions and fuel components as needed.
- Repair cooling components and systems including air conditioners and engine cooling.
- Perform emissions inspections, safety checks and similar state-regulated vehicle examinations
- Creating detailed service reports for customers
