Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Automotive Mechanic to join our team at Cannon Mountain. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in vehicle maintenance and repair, demonstrating expertise in diagnosing and resolving issues across various automotive systems. This full-time position involves performing mechanical work to maintain and repair a wide range of vehicles and equipment used in our northern location parks, all while adhering to safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule and perform routine vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
- Diagnose and repair automotive systems, including powertrain, suspension, electrical components, and other related mechanical equipment (e.g., tractors, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles).
- Conduct complete unit replacements of engines, transmissions, and differentials, ensuring operational efficiency.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
- Perform welding in the repair and fabrication of new systems and units, using proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify potential problems and recommend necessary repairs, including state inspections.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and orders placed, organizing storage and parts rooms for safety and efficiency.
- Establish and adhere to preventative maintenance programs for motorized equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery.
- Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies, including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding their vehicle needs and repair options, providing exceptional customer service.
Experience:
- Proven experience as an Automotive Mechanic or in a similar role within a dealership, independent shop, or large commercial garage.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and diagnostic equipment for vehicle repairs.
- Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance practices, safety standards, and welding techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills to interact positively with customers and colleagues alike.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent. Possession of an Associate’s degree in automotive mechanics from a recognized college or technical school may substitute for apprenticeship training.
- Experience: Two years’ experience as a journeyman mechanic, with two additional years of approved work experience substituting for the Associate’s degree.
- License/Certification: Must possess a valid driver’s license and New Hampshire Motor Vehicle inspection certification or obtain it within 90 days of hire.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires medium to heavy work, including frequent bending, lifting, or climbing.
- Fine manual dexterity and coordination in operating machines or equipment are necessary.

Pay: $19.96 - $26.41 per hour
