Position Title: Tire and Lubricant Vehicle Technician
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for a Tire and Lubricant Vehicle Technician. This position services automobiles, light trucks, and equipment. Responsible for fueling, washing, and cleaning vehicles. Cleans engines; repairs, change and balance automotive and light truck tires; replaces belts, hoses, batteries, filters, and other parts. Maintains preventative maintenance service records. Receives stock and picks up/delivers parts when necessary. Must be able to perform physical activity in lifting (greater than 50 pounds), and be able to operate hand tools, jacks and lifting vehicle equipment, and cleaning materials. This position works a majority of the time outside and will perform duties in all types of weather throughout the year.

Required Education and Experience:
- 6 months experience as a lubrication technician, light duty tire technician, custodian or mechanic’s assistant. Alternative combinations of related experience and education maybe be considered.
- A valid Montana Driver’s License is required.
- Forklift certification must be obtained within 3 months after hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to physically lift and carry 50 pounds or more.
- Knowledge of changing tires.
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
