Position Summary:
The Mechanic is responsible for the repairs of trucks and trailers, replacing needed parts, and providing an excellent customer experience.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on trucks, such as checking batteries and changing oil to ensure proper vehicle maintenance.
- Inspect various parts of trucks, including brake systems, wheel bearings and steering mechanisms to ensure they are in the proper condition to operate effectively.
- Use different tooling and equipment, such as pressure gauges, pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, hoists and jacks, to repair trucks while constantly exercising safety precautions.
- Diagnose malfunctions in equipment by inspecting and testing using devises such as motor analyzers, handheld computers and chassis charts to determine how to address problems.
- Test drive vehicles to ensure they are running properly and to find issues to determine what the solution will be.
- Conduct repairs that include replacing auto parts, valves, bearings and gears as needed and repair vehicle cooling and heating systems.
- Measure vehicle emissions to ensure they are in the proper limits.
- Ensure parts conform to factory specifications by inspecting and verifying clearances and dimensions.
- Provide excellence customer service to every customer who visits Cornhusker Truck Center.
- Must have own hand tools.
- Keep the shop area picked up, clean, and safe.
- Check tractor/trailers on the lot for obvious maintenance concerns for customers.
- All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
- Obtain CDL within the first 6 months of employment.
- Technical certification or degree, preferred.
- Experience working with diagnostic computers, preferred.
