How You Will Make an Impact?
Painter Trainer will develop and maintain our process of training and ensuring all painters within the organization meet our engineering standards and comply with standard painting skills and competencies. This position will lead the training of all company painters to comply and demonstrate proficiency in Morgan’s paint processes.
The Nuts and Bolts
Hiring responsibilities:
- Ensure that any Painters hired has met the requirements to be a Painter.
- Ensure Painters are qualified and trained before performing another Morgan paint application once employed.
Training/Mentor/SME:
- Serve as the SME and ensure that all Painters adhere to performing paint functions to standards and use all required PPE and train on how to ensure PPE is working properly.
- Provide training to each current and new painter team member on Morgan Engineering Standards.
- Train and answer questions related to paint applications, review, clarify engineering drawings and serve as subject matter expert on paint and answer respond to environmental health and safety issues as required.
Compliance/auditing:
- Implement monthly audit program for all paint applications at Morgan to ensure that all painting is done to engineering specifications and in accordance with engineering prints.
- Perform random paint audits for all Painters under scope of responsibility.
- Inspect any painting problems reported by Morgan quality technicians or customers from referenced warranty work and craft a summary report of findings to appropriate manager.
- Ensure that all quality technicians, area leads, team leads, line leads and supervisor are trained and acknowledge that Morgan paint procedures are followed.
- Maintain and update paint training tracker on public shared drive and ensure all Painters are in the proper grade and compensation structure for skill level in which they have demonstrated certification.
Skills:
- Ability to read complex blue prints, read dial calipers, read a tape measure and understand how to read decimals and convert to decimals.
- Can work independently with little to no supervision.
- Competent and knowledgeable on how to set up painting equipment including automotive painting.
- Experience in performing paint functions within Morgan desired.
Required Credentials
- 4 year degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years in manufacturing environment
- Automotive paint experience and strong knowledge of automotive paint processes
- Initiative and competence to anticipate and respond to issues along with the ability to identify and implement changes as needed
- Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles required
- Excellent communication skills, personal accountability and a strong sense of urgency
- Training experience
- Strong ability to communicate to multiple levels and functions
- Experience in Schematics, Blue Print reading, and AutoCAD introduction
- Strong mentorship
- Leads by example
- Approximately 50% travel
