Position Overview:
The On-Site Heavy Equipment Fuel and Lube Technician is responsible for the efficient and effective fueling, lubricating, and minor maintenance of heavy equipment on-site. The role ensures that all equipment operates smoothly and reliably, minimizing downtime and enhancing overall productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fueling: Safely and accurately fuel heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, cranes, and loaders, according to manufacturer specifications and company guidelines.
- Lubrication: Perform regular lubrication of equipment parts as per maintenance schedules, including engines, hydraulic systems, and transmission components.
- Inspection: Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify any potential issues or deficiencies that could affect performance or safety.
- Maintenance: Carry out minor repairs and adjustments to equipment as needed, including changing filters, checking fluid levels, and replacing worn components.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of fuel and lubricant usage, maintenance performed, and any issues encountered. Ensure accurate documentation and reporting to supervisors.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while handling fuel, lubricants, and other maintenance materials. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent service to team members by addressing any concerns promptly and professionally. Assist with troubleshooting and problem-solving as needed.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage fuel and lubricant inventory levels, ensuring that supplies are ordered and replenished in a timely manner.
- Equipment Care: Ensure that all tools and equipment used for fueling and lubrication are maintained in good working condition and are stored properly.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification in automotive or diesel mechanics is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, fuel and lube operations, or a related field.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment systems, fuel types, and lubrication procedures.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and maintenance schedules.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certifications: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. CDL a plus. Additional certifications in equipment maintenance or safety are desirable.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and perform physical tasks related to equipment maintenance.
