Lead Technician
REPORTS TO: Store Manager
SUMMARY
The Lead Technician is the highest skilled automotive technician position in the Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers organization. The lead technician will solve and complete the more technically complex jobs. The Lead Technician serves as the service center’s mentor for less skilled technicians, providing advice to help them grow in their technical careers while also helping maximize the service centers’ sales performance. The lead technician leads by example in various areas: adherence to safety, best practices and procedures; service bay and personal cleanliness, sharing news and key information. The Lead Technician will drive service bay optimization and vehicle throughput by first diagnosing the more difficult customer symptoms and problem vehicles, and then assigning specific tasks to other service center technicians when conditions and circumstances permit. The Lead Technician performs normal technician tasks as needed due to work load variations and other circumstances.
Lead Technicians differ from other Technicians at the store by having greater responsibility, autonomy, and discretion in planning and completing a wide variety of activities. Employees at this level have advanced technical skills and leadership traits to help the service center improve and grow as vehicle technology and service requirements change. The Lead Technician is highly skilled in using information and tools properly and possesses excellent problem-solving skills.
