EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Job PurposeUnder general supervision, inspects and analyzes local traffic conditions. Conducts counts, surveys, studies, and related traffic control investigations.Essential Job DutiesInspects and analyzes local traffic conditions and data.Conducts traffic counts, surveys, and studies.Investigates field conditions, and determines the need for new traffic control installations, or the modification or replacement of existing installations.Investigates complaints and reports of potential traffic hazards.Reviews work zone traffic control. Conducts neighborhood traffic management studies.Prepares reports and summarizes statistics regarding findings.Prepares sketches of existing conditions and proposed traffic control changes such as channelization plans and signal and marking plans.Prepares and writes traffic legislation proposals.Initiates and prepares work orders.Makes field inspections to ensure work was completed in accordance with prepared plans and specifications.Examples of Other DutiesPerforms other related duties as required.NOTE: The duties and responsibilities listed above are for the purpose of determining a common set of minimum qualifications for all positions in this class. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Employees hired after July 1, 2022 are required to participate in the Baltimore County Employees' Retirement System, with very limited exceptions.Employees must maintain required licenses and certifications throughout the course of employment. Licenses and CertificatesPossession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.Physical and Environmental ConditionsThe work of this classification entails the performance of physical activities such as walking and standing.Duties may require exposure to traffic and frequent travel between work sites.Medical Examination and Employment Background InvestigationApplicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening and employment investigation, including, but not limited to criminal background, education certification and fingerprinting checks.
