As a Motor Pool Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our fleet and gas-powered equipment.
We are seeking a skilled Motor Pool Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair and maintenance, with a focus on diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues in a timely manner.
The Motor Pool Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, and repairing our fleet of vehicles to ensure they meet safety standards and operational requirements.
They will be responsible for maintaining and managing the campus emergency generator assets. Essential Job Duties : Responsible for following all safety procedures and maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
Maintains cleanliness of the vehicles. Completes minor repairs on Forklifts and propane tanks exchanges. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, brakes and filter inspections, fuel filling.
Diagnose mechanical issues and perform routine repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and other vehicle components.
Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles and emergency generators to identify potential problems and recommend necessary repairs.
Planned maintenance on stake bed trucks, including 90-days safety inspections and scheduling yearly lift gate services. Contact, collaborate, schedule, and support outside vendors as needed.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities using computerized systems. Assist in the procurement of replacement parts and supplies, ensuring compliance with budgetary guidelines.
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working in the motor pool facility. Collaborate with other team members to prioritize work orders and ensure timely completion of repairs.
Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay updated on new technologies and automotive trends.
Perform all other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications : High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience as an automotive mechanic, with a minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.
Strong knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical components. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaborate effectively within a team environment.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Must maintain a valid California driver's license throughout the course of employment.
Must be able to communicate, both written and verbally, in English. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
Stamina to stand, stoop, bend, and kneel for extended periods. Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Be forklift certified. Basic computer knowledge. Ability to work in a warehouse setting with occasional exposure to industrial operations (temperatures, noise, etc.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating tools and equipment. Selected candidate must pass a pre-employment background investigation and post-offer physical examination to be hired for this position.
