Schedule: Tuesday – Friday 11:30 am to 8 pm and Saturday: 8am – 4:30 p.m. Schedule is subject to change. Must be able to work all shifts
Metroconnects people, places, and opportunities through quality transit services. Reporting to Maintenance Supervisor, the Automotive Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing/troubleshooting, inspecting and repairing all paratransit vans and hybrid cars, Ford service trucks and smaller fuel powered equipment.
Automotive Mechanic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2-3 years of recent experience for Automotive Mechanic or 5-7 years recent experience for 1st class Automotive Mechanic or any combination of relevant education and experience.
- Possess or have and retain a valid driver’s license.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Demonstrate and maintain a safe driving record.
- Possess knowledge of fleet maintenance procedures.
- Possess basic computer skills necessary including use of Microsoft Word & Excel.
- Possess necessary tools and ability to use a variety of shop tools and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and possess strong attention to detail.
- Ability to bend, kneel, stoop and stand for long periods of time on concrete surfaces.
- Ability to perform lifting tasks up to 75 lbs.
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
- Good attendance and job performance record.
Automotive Mechanic Essential Duties:
- Utilize good mechanical skills and proficiency when working on Ford Motor Company vehicles, including body on chassis vehicles.
- Perform vehicle inspections, overhauls, major and minor repairs, as well as on-going regular scheduled maintenance.
- Ensure automotive fleet and small equipment are in safe, working order when placed in service, and free of mechanical defects.
- Diagnose/troubleshoot all major component groups.
- Respond to road-calls and troubleshoot in the field.
- Possess and maintain tools necessary to perform the work.
- Proficiently use of diagnostic equipment.
- Utilize proficient and effective time management skills in performing assigned tasks.
- Perform metal and fiberglass fabrication.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe work environment and clean work area.
- Regular and predictable attendance according to the position’s approved work schedule.
- Other duties as assigned.
