REQUIREMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21 years of age
- Hold a minimum of 4 Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Certifications
- Basic computer skills
- At least 5 years of verifiable work experience in the repair of fire apparatus or heavy equipment
- 1 year or more of supervisory experience
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and publications related to vehicle maintenance
- Must hold a Class B CDL (or obtain within 60 days of hire)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- ASE certification - A4, A5, A9, T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7
- EVT certifications- E0, E1, E2, E3, E4, F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6
- Completion of an accredited vocation training program in a related field of study
- Experience with fire pumps
- Experience with hydraulic systems
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Small engine repair experience

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Service all District vehicles, fire pumps and their components
- Major and minor repairs applying National Fire Protection Association (NFPS) standards
- Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, adjust, tune, remove and replace components
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to perform frequent lifting and moving of heavy parts and equipment (up to 100 pounds), walking, standing, stooping, crawling, climbing, kneeling, crouching, pulling, pushing, and reaching.
- Ability to operate Department vehicles and equipment as required.
- Work in confined areas.
- Exposure to cold, dampness, dust, odors, fumes, and environmental conditions.
- Exposure to noise.
- Exposure to chemicals, petroleum products, cleaning agents, etc.
- Ability and willingness to wear PPE to mitigate occupational exposures to hazards presented by the job.
- Must participate in pre-employment and random drug screening and comply with Department employment policies.
