Performing Daily Inspections’ of the 66 Commuter railcars
This would include items such as inspected the brakes, inspecting the radios and electronics, inspecting the inside and outside of the train for any defects such as worn wheels, broken seats, headlights burned out, inspecting the doors to make sure the open and close, etc..
Performing light repairs
This could include replacing headlights, replacing brake shoes, replacing radios, adjusting the motors and micro switches on the door system, repairing passenger seats, etc.
Performing Periodic Maintenance (PM) inspection
This would include a more thorough inspection of all the trains major systems, including doors, electronics, HVAC, body / frame, braking system, low voltage and high voltage systems, etc.

Requirements
Associates degree OR certificate in a mechanical or electrical field from a school
i.e. Diesel technology, Automotive technology, electronics, avionics, aircraft airframe and power plant, etc.)
4+ years of verifiable work experience working in the mechanical or electrical fields without formal education related to mechanical / electrical repairs
i.e. : locomotive mechanic, locomotive electrician, light rail mechanic, automotive mechanic, bus mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, oil field mechanic, aircraft mechanic, electronics technician, HVAC mechanic, electrician, machinist)
Military experience and training in a mechanical or electrical related field
i.e. : Tank mechanic, helicopter mechanic, aircraft mechanic, ship mechanic, communications or radar mechanic, etc.)
Must be able to pass a background and drug & alcohol test which includes Marijuana use.
Must be able to pass a DOT physical & Physical Abilities evaluation.
Must have a valid US driver license & clean driving record. (You will be driving company vehicles.)
Within 90 days of being hired, all technicians must be able to successfully pass the Federal Railroad Administration required Qualified Maintenance Person training program.
Training You Can Expect : Those that demonstrate the initiative to read about and learn the advanced electrical and mechanical systems on the own, will be given opportunities to engage in paid hands on and classroom advanced training sessions.
Your training will continue throughout your career with us, and as new railway technologies emerge.
All Technicians must successfully pass all requirements to reach tech level 2 by 6 months of being hired.
At 1 year of employment Technicians should be at tech level 3.
For all employees hired above tech level 1, or those already at level 3 or above, all technicians must increase at least 1 tech level per year.
