Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage all operations in an auto service department to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Oversee the inspection of automobiles to identify faulty components and facilitate process for repairs.
- Supervise the activities of automotive service technicians to ensure efficient job performance and compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
- Distribute work between technicians efficiently and manage the workflow of the shop.
- Monitor inventory to regulate and ensure availability of required vehicle parts.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns quickly and professionally to maintain good customer relationships and ensure repeat customers
- Solve problems and meet predetermined services and sales objectives
- Ensure processes are in place to evaluate staff and workflow, and to communicate clearly with customers
- Conduct daily one on one meetings with team members to identify potential service issues
- Hire, train, and evaluate the productivity of the automotive service staff to acknowledge efficient employees and guide under-performing ones.
- Take ownership of the customer's experience by listening to the client needs and assist in addressing their issues and resolving challenges.
- Follow up with customers to obtain feedback and ensure they are satisfied with service received to promote 100% customer satisfaction.
- Generate and strive to increase sales and implement a turnover process to ensure objectives are met
- Assess present and future need, trends, problems and opportunities of the service department
Qualifications / Requirements:
- At least 5 years of proven success as a Service Manager in the automotive industry
- Ability to be analytical, problem solve and multitask with 100+ ROs daily.
- Broad scope of automotive mechanical knowledge
- Experience in supervising and managing staff
- Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality
- Highly professional and dependable
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and staff
- Strong work ethic and professional appearance
- Willingness to adapt to current dealer processes
- CDK experience is a plus
- Ability to coach and mentor staff
- Possess extensive working knowledge of industry standards and practices, inclusive of product details and company services offered
- Pass pre-employment testing including background check, MVR, and drug screen
- Basic computer and internet skills
- Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
- Able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles
