Job Brief:
The Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicle problems using safe and proper repair techniques. The Service Technician is also responsible for quality control, maintenance and cleanliness of the repair shop in the Service Department. The Service Technician will employ effective communication skills needed to build rapport with peers and supervisors. The Service Technician will display a positive attitude and show initiative towards the job. Audi service is expanding and we are looking for highly motivated technicians to join our team.
Essential Functions:
- Review Repair Orders (“ROs”) with the Service Advisor and diagnose customer complaints and concerns to assess vehicle damage and/or malfunction. Work with Service Advisor to determine estimated cost of repairs and parts.
- Inspect and test drive vehicle to:
- Identify and diagnose requested repairs consistent with customer complaints and concerns;
- Discover any other critical repairs not requested by customer, but necessary to ensure the safety of the vehicle and its owner;
- Identify any non-critical service and repairs not requested by customer, but recommended to extend the service life of the vehicle; and
- Report findings to the Service Advisor.
- Obtain parts and perform authorized service and repairs to customer vehicles on a timely basis. Ensure that all service and repairs meet:
- Dealership and factory quality standards; and
- Motor vehicle safety standards; and
- New Mexico Department of Motor Vehicles inspection/environmental compliance standards.
- Use lifts, hoists, powered hand tools and other specialized tools and equipment to safely perform service and repairs.
- Provide quality assurance by visually inspecting and test driving vehicles after authorized service and repairs have been completed.
- Turn in vehicle keys with the ROs and provide detailed documentation to Service Advisor recording the cause and corrective actions undertaken to repair and/or maintain the vehicles and to resolve vehicle damage or malfunction.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area; maintain shop equipment; and assist in shop clean-up.
- Regularly review online service news and bulletins from factory and other relevant sources.
- Provide roadside assistance when requested.
