East Penn Truck Equipment Inc.a leading commercial truck dealer and body up fitter is seeking a full time well-rounded and self-motivated disciplined individual seeking employment in our service department as a technician and truck body installer. We’re looking for someone with great work ethic that is looking for a long term career, not another job. We are a busy shop specializing in towing recovery and commercial work trucks and need someone experienced with light mechanical repair, electrical diagnosis/ equipment installation, fabrication, welding and more. The ideal candidate is a problem solver who has the ability to work independently and in a group setting.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Follow instructions of shop supervisor and communicate with all co-workers
- Responsible for assembling tow trucks and performing repairs on related towing equipment (training provided).
- Install new work truck equipment including hydraulic, electrical, welding, fabrication, assembl
- Read and follow all manufacturer instructions and drawings
- Need welding skills in Mig, Tig and Aluminum
- Ability to do light repair work on motor vehicles and trucks, from maint & light mechanical repairs, to fabrication, welding, hydraulic repairs and more.
- Diagnose and Repair existing equipment to including hydraulic systems, electrical wiring harness and multiplexed electrical systems, all aspects of welding and fabrication
- Safely operate warehouse equipment (forklift, pallet jack, shop equipment)
- Stoop, bend, squat and kneel frequently to service and repair equipment
- Move and work efficiently and accurately and timely work habits and maintain company’s commitments to clients
- High attention to detail and quality
Qualifications and Skills
- - Must be able to install flatbeds, service bodys, dump bodys and wrecker bodies commercial trucks.
- - Being able to install hydraulic systems, PTOs, electrical systems would be a plus.
- - Must be familiar with municipal trucks and applications.
- - Inspect trucks and equipment to detect defects and malfunctions
- - Remove and replace damaged parts as needed
- - Troubleshoot and repair electrical components (will train on products).
- - Recognize set-up and operate hand power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment and fabrication equipment
- - Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
- - Dismantle equipment and remove parts for repair using hand tools, chains falls, jacks, cranes and hoists.
- - Reassemble equipment after the completion of repair or maintenance work
- - Read Work Orders and specifications to determine equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
- - Other duties as assigned.
- Heavy-duty truck and/or trailer repair Diesel maintenance experience a plus
- ASE certifications or others are a plus
- PA State Inspection license / not required but helpful.
- CDL is a plus ( not required ).

Basic related hand tools to do job tasks needed.
Physical & Other Job Requirements:
- Must have valid drivers license (CDL a bonus not required ).
- - Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds or more
- - Must have full body mobility: twisting, turning, and working for extensive periods of time with hands above the head
- - Must be able to stand for extended periods of time each shift worked
- - Must be able to climb stairs
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience
- Valid Driver’s License with Clean Driving Record
- Must have own tools
- 3 - 5 years of truck mechanical experience
- Minimum 2-years or more fabrication experience
- Minimum 2-years or more experience in hydraulics
- Minimum 2-years or more experience in automotive electrical
- Strong Communication Skills
- Ability to work in team environment as well as independently.
