Puklich Chevrolet is looking for a Automotive Technician to join our team! We are willing to train the right candidate!

40 hours per week, $17.50-$30 per hour (DOE)
Rotating Saturdays

SUMMARY

Performs most tasks assigned with some supervision required. Requires average mechanical knowledge; such as disassemble and repair engines.

Installs and repairs automotive air-conditioning units within dealership and factory quality and time guidelines.
Repairs and maintains diesel and gasoline engine industrial trucks according to dealership and factory specifications.
Repairs manual and automatic transmissions in automobiles within dealership and manufacturer quality and time standards.
Aligns wheels, axles, frames, torsion bars and steering mechanisms of automotive vehicles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Essential Duties include the following.

Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
Diagnoses vehicle problems based on customer complaints and inspection.
Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
Road tests vehicles.
Completes repairs according to dealership and manufacturer quality and time standards. Maintains and ensures quality service for every customer’s experience.
Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.+
Inspects and test drives newly delivered vehicles for obvious damage and missing major components and drivability functions.
Installs optional equipment specified by the customer or dealer.
Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
Keeps shop area neat and clean.
Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.
Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
Uses proper eye, hand, and body protection when using products that require protection.
Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
Keeps current on all training requirements; such as GM training, Compliance training and other training as assigned by manager.
Sets a good example by maintaining a healthy work demeanor and cooperating with other managers and fellow employees in a positive spirit of teamwork. Represents Puklich Chevrolet positively when out in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
