SUMMARY
Perform root cause analysis of warranty return transmission assemblies. Analyzes failed assemblies, components and transmission fluid to determine failure cause, and document findings for communication to internal and external customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
In depth root cause investigation of returned transmission assemblies and components. Look at failure symptoms to determine cause factors. Determine, as necessary, the appropriate testing required of assemblies and/or components to replicate the customer complaint or stated failure mode in the claim. This includes in vehicle testing and diagnostics. Document the findings in a logical and concise manner to present to internal functional areas, as well as OE or Aftermarket customer representatives. Daily input of production scrap.
Responsible for adherence to the policies, procedures, work rules and instructions of the IATF 16949 systems as related to operations.
Responsible for adherence to the policies, procedures, work rules and instructions of the ISO 14001 environmental management systems as related to operations.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Diploma from technical school training in transmission or power train technology, or related field; or seven or more years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and understand component and assembly drawings. Functional knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing a plus for interpreting specifications in component and assembly drawings.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
ASE Transmission Certification preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write detail reports of analysis performed in root cause activity. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Functional experience with email, word processing and spreadsheets (such as Outlook, Word and Excel).
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
