MJ Tank Lines, a family-owned bulk petroleum transportation company located in Southern California, is seeking a highly skilled Tanker Diesel Maintenance Mechanic to join our growing team! This individual will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of tanker trucks and trailers. We are looking for a dedicated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, adapts to ever-changing demands, and possesses a competitive edge. Preferred candidates will have at least three years of experience in fleet vehicle maintenance and diagnostic skills with the ability to work under minimal supervision as well as in the elements.
Responsibilities
Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests
Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs while adhering to DOT inspection procedures
Ensure equipment availability by completing preventive maintenance as scheduled
Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
Keep shop equipment operating and clean by following operating instructions and performing preventative maintenance as required
Assist in communication with service of equipment with outside shops and vendors when needed
Track inventory supplies by verifying orders as needed
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications
Qualifications
Proficiency in the use of all tools of trade (welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools) required
Basic computer skills for data entry into maintenance systems
Willingness to travel as necessary to other locations within Southern California in provided company vehicle
Initiative-taking, critical thinker with the ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently, using all available resources
Highly organized, manages time efficiently, detail and accuracy oriented
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects
Demonstrate dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules
Good interpersonal skills, able to work well with a wide range of individuals
Have the ability and willingness to work additional hours, when necessary, based on workload
High School education or equivalent
Vocational/Technical or certification preferred
Minimum of 3 years of practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance required
Safety/OSHA knowledge or certifications
A valid and current CDL driver’s license is required
