The Traveling Automotive Mechanic will modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing a wide range of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance.

Job Summary:

Job Title: Traveling Automotive Technicians/Mechanics
Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract to Hire
Compensation: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour.
Days/Hours: Monday through Friday Day shift with OT
Work is preformed in Livonia, Michigan.
Travel, housing and per diem provided

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repair and modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing a wide range of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance.

Experience in mechanical assembly and ability to run shop equipment.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of the team.
Able to follow written policy and procedures.
Certifications of experience and experience with Ford Products a plus.
Maintain vehicle functional condition by working off repair orders or leader instructions and conducting inspections.
Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components.
Read, interpret, and follow service procedures.
Train, coach, and mentor team members related to their job responsibilities and is available as a subject matter expert to assist the team and customers.
Maintain vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders.
Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting
breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs.
Lead daily shop organization and clean-up.

Education and Experience (required):

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 4-8 years of work experience as a Mechanic.
Must have own tools with rolling tool box
Must have well rounded technician / mechanical experience and knowledge

Preferred Skills:

Ford experience
State/ASE certifications
Prototype build technician / mechanic experience helpful
Must have good organizational skills
Must have good attention to detail
Must possess the skills to read, comprehend, and execute written procedures
Must be an automotive technician / mechanic with a high level of urgency, motivation, and enthusiasm to learn
Must have reliable attendance and the willingness to work overtimewhen needed.

Education and Experience (preferred):

Certificate in Automotive Technology or related.
State Mechanic Certification(s).
Valid driver’s license.
